QUIDAM DE LINDELL

Quidam De Lindell                                                                          Sire: Quidam de Revel

In 2004, Quidam de Revel topped the World Breeding Championships Jumping Stallion ratings for the second year running, establishing himself as the pre-eminent – and most expensive – living sire of jumping horses. With ten (10) of his progeny jumping at the W.E.G. in Jerez 2002, he was the stallion with the most number of progeny at this level.
ell who is who. They could be twins.”
.Quidam de Revel unites two of the most important lines of the Selle Français horse – the lines of Jalisco and Uriel.
Jalisco is a legend in his own right, but Quidam’s dam was also a star – Dirka, despite being only 163 cms, won at international level with Nelson Pessoa, before being given to Xavier Leredde who made his junior international debut on her.
Returned to her breeder, Prince Amaury de Broglie, Dirka was bred to Sans Souci, to produce two international competitors, Orka and Paprika de Revel, then with Jalisco B she produced Quidam de Revel and the broodmares, Razzia and Sarah de Revel. With Jalisco’s half brother, Kisosovo, she produced CSO winner, Vallon Rouge, and with Narcos, Aiglon Rouge, a star in Holland. With Quat’sous, she produced Byra Rouge, and with Pappillon Rouge, Dirka de Revel. What a mare!
In the survey of the world’s top 75 jumping sires that appears in the French publication, Monneron 2007-2008, compiled by Bernard le Courtois  Quidam de Revel is Number 1 with 48 CSI winners and he is also represented by two sons. Nabab de Reve (out of an Artichaut mare) is 18th with 14 CSI winners, while Guidam (out of a Vénutard mare) ranks 19th with 12 winners, including Authentic, second best performer in the world in 2006.

Quincy’s damline includes the Hanoverian stallion Grandex2 who sired over 33 approved sons, 34 State Premium mares, and several Olympic competitors.  He is found in the pedigree through Grannus in For Pleasure’s dams sires line.

G-line horses center primarily through his influential descendants Grande and Gottard The famous Grande. who stood for 25 years, 1962-1987. was noted for his inner values, which compensated for several conformational faults and resulted in his own high performance testing and the performance success of his offspring. With Graf by Goldfisch II more from the jumping side, and with a Duellant mother, Grande combined dressage and jumping bloodlines, and his offspring have been very versatile. his son Garibaldi II sired Gifted, for example, as well as good jumpers. His son Graphit sired the well-known (now deceased) U.S. dressage star Grundstein While standing in Germany, Grundstein was a top producer of both dressage and jumping horses. Also Graslitter by Grande developed into a producer of show jumpers of international class. His son Grandeur was a three dine winner of the German Derby. After being retired from the sport. Grandeur is a very sought after private stallion.
Grannus is another Graphit son being 20 years old, he is already a legend in his lifetime. He became famous as a world class sire of show-jumpers.

Quincys lines also include the very famous stallion Ferdinandx2. In his time (1944-67) Ferdinand was perhaps the most famous producer of jumping horses in the world. Werner Schockeinoble once said of Ferdinand. “There has been no stallion known in the younger breeding history who passed on to his sons so consistently courage, confidence, and jumping ability”- and this against all other bloodlines.
Ferdinand’s three State Stud sons were born relatively late in his career: Winnetou (1968-79), Wedekind (l970~83) and Wenderkreis (1971-80) Of the Ferdinand sons, Wendekreis had the biggest influence, producing many stallions. Conformation-wise, his offspring are very correct, although needing some refinement on the mother’s side. Among his stallion sons some tend to the dressage direction like Wenderlin and Wenderberg while others arc more versatile. This indicates the mother’s influence.

Zeus (who is sometimes called ‘Nurzeus’ but actually started life as Gordios) is a balanced mix of Selle Français and Anglo Arab blood. His sire, the Anglo Arab, Arlequin is a distinguished sire of international showjumpers and eventers, Zeus’ full brother, Figaro (ridden for Zangersheide by Harry Wouters Van Den Oudenweyer) and sister, Diablesse (ridden by J. P. Bonneau), won at international level, as did Enc’ Or, Elysée II, Fidelité, Filou Charriére, Fourni Rouge and Izmir – all by Arlequin.
Arlequin was out of Nuit Bleue, by Le Pot aux Roses who was the sire of the showjumping superstar of the 70’s, Quo Vadis.
Arlequin is still an influence in France through his eleven approved sons, most notably Mister Charrier and grandson, Kapoc. His dam, Urielle is by Matador, a stallion represented in Germany through his Oldenburg son, Veritas. Matador is the sire of Unicol’Or whose son, Pivoine du Taillan, is an international Grand Prix winner with Michel Robert. Unicol’Or is the dam sire of Krawaat, an international Grand Prix winner with Ludo Phillipaerts. Another Matador international winner is Phosph’Or, ridden by Stéphanie Delaveau. The dam sire, Talisman xx, is also the dam sire of the legendary full-brothers, Furioso II and Mexico. It was this matrilineal line that really impressed the stallion’s future owner George Vorwerk, as Dirk Zaggers in his article ‘Zeus: Last of the Great Oldenburger Frenchmen’ (Breeding News, October 1998) points out: ‘For George Vorwerk the dam line was a very important item in breeding, and he discovered that Evelyne the dam of Urielle was the by the Selle Français stallion, Talisman, who was also the sire of the dam of his star stallion Furioso II. George Vorwerk proved himself ahead of his time when he found out that a little inbreeding had a positive effect on sport performance, especially with Furioso II.’

Zeus was sold as a two year old at the annual auction at Poitiers for 26,000 francs. Soon after he was presented at the 1975 KWPN stallion grading where he failed! It was in Holland that the famous Oldenburg breeder George Vorwerk spotted him and brought him to Germany. Dirk Zaggers was on the spot: ‘A few years later, when I worked for George Vorwerk at his stud farm, I was curious why he was so interested in a non-licensed French stallion at a Dutch grading show. First of all George was impressed by his breeding. Although Gordios was a Selle Français, he had 82% Anglo-Arab blood in his veins and at that time Oldenburg was in great need of performance stallions with this blood to ennoble the breeding stock in that region of Germany.’
Zaggers records his impressions of the young stallion: ‘In conformation the young chestnut looked more like the modern sporting type horses than the German breeding stallions of those days. His trotting movements betrayed his Arab background, as he moved a bit flat and not from out of his shoulder. Nowadays we know that trot, although being important in breeding, has nothing to do with jumping performances or inheritance. On the other hand the Frenchman had a good walk, and could canter and jump like the very best. At the Oldenburg grading show, Gordios was approved as Zeus and sent to Adelheidsdorf for the performance test where he came second of the Oldenburg licesned stallions. At the test Zeus proved himself an excellent jumper but he had difficulties in adapting himself to the Germany way of riding. We are talking 1976, the year that Alwin Schockemöhle became Olympic champion and, in those days, horses had to adapt themselves to the stronger and more dominant way of riding that everybody copied from Schockemöhle.’
which was Midnight Madness, bred by that well-known breeder, Henk Nijhof.
Zeus was a consistent sire of top jumping horses over a long career in both Germany and Holland. Playback with Rodney Jenkins won the 1987 AHSA Jumper of the Year and was sixth at the World Cup Final in 1989. Canadian rider Ian Millar had success with both Lonesome Dove and Czar – both by Zeus. Midnight Madness with Michael Whitaker, Hauser’s Zypria and Dirk Hauser, and Virtual Village Zalza with Nick Skelton, all contributed to Zeus’ fame.
Zeus’ German registered progeny had won a total of DM4.3 million by the year 2001, and in that year, the grand old man still managed to finish in 10th place on the WBFSH rankings for the year, with his most successful progeny in that year being Zandor Z. Zandor Z has had a very successful competition career with Jos Lansink, placing second in the Hachenburg In 1981, the Dutch breeder, Hans Rehbergen leased Zeus from Vorwerk. This time the KWPN commission licensed the horse, under the name, Nurzeus (it was a year in which all stallions were given names beginning with the letter ‘n’, hence Nurzeus). Zeus sired 361 foals in The Netherlands, the most famous of and Geesteren Grand Prix, and third in the Grand Prix of Europe at Aach.
Zandor Z is the only stallion son of Zeus still in competition. His two most influential stallion sons have been Zyklotron and Beach Boy (who has recently moved from Sweden to the United States). Zyklotron – out of a mare by Admiral I – has sired two international jumpers, Zuckerpuppe and Zarzuela. Beach Boy, out of a Lucky Boy dam, is the sire of Beach Game, and more recently the stallion, Brandenburger who has been ridden internationally by Rob Ehrens.
As a sire of broodmares, Zeus has been very important, with the international competitors: Cat Ballou, Ermis, Lysias, Prim Zaro, Riccarda, and most importantly, Tinka’s Boy, all out of mares by Zeus.
Zeus is ranked 6th in the standings for 1990 to 2000 with 34 representatives!

CASSANDRAS DREAM

SOLD TO LINDA HUNTER OF EDMONTON.

TOP HANOVERIAN FILLY IN WESTERN CANADA 2007

CASSANDRA’S DREAM ‘ with her filly ‘ELLE CONTESSA’ by El Bundy Sold to

Victoria Row of Calgary, Alta.

At Spruce Meadows on Sept.6th 2007 we presented ‘Cassandra’s Dream’  by Contendro with her filly ‘Elle Contessa’ by El Bundy in the foal show. To our delight she was awarded Top Filly in western Canada!! Contendro and El Bundy both won their 100 day test with 1st in jumping and top scores in dressage as well!  This filly will definitely be one to watch for in the show ring.

CASANDRAS’ DREAM 2002 IMPORTED VHW    HANOVERIAN FILLY  This  refined bay filly is my dream come true, she is by the Hot young Contendro out of a St. Pr. mare by White Magic a son  of the legendary Weltmeyer. Cassie’s dam  Worcester received an overall 8 at her Inspection, including 9’s for Swing and Elasticity and for her Head.  In addition, she earned an astounding 8.39 at her Mare Performance Test, including 9’s for trot and canter, and a 9 and 10 for rideability.  At the breeding shows, she was the winner of her Class at 2, winner of her Class at 3, and also Mare Show Champion. This qualified her for invitation to the prestigious 5th Ratje-Niebuhr Mare Show in 2000 in Verden.  This show is only held every several years and brings the Regional Champions together.  She again won her 3-year-old Class at Ratje-Niebuhr as well.   An official of the Hanoverian Verband rated her as one of the top three mares in her age group in all of Germany in 2000.
Worcester’s sire is WHITE MAGIC by Weltmeyer out of SPS Biene by Bolero.  This young stallion died in 2000 at the age of eight.  In his short career, he was ranked with the other Champion sons of Weltmeyer.  He dominated his Stallion Performance Test at Adelheidsdorf in 1995, with an overall score of 140.69, with 152.19 for rideability and placed 1st of 50.  In addition, he placed in three consecutive annual German national Bundeschampionships and was ridden by Holga Finken.  White Magic scored exceptionally well in the newly revised and integrated German Breed Value data system of the National Federation (FN Breed Values, the so-called integrated breed value estimation) in Dressage for 2001.  White Magic was third overall and second for Hanoverians in dressage for this National ranking of all German Dressage Sires.  He was first overall in the Suitability component, second overall (to Don Schufro (Old.)) and first Hanoverian in the Stallion Performance Test component and third overall (to Wolkentanz and Don Primero) in the Mare Performance Test component.  White Magic, who unfortunately died at 8 years of age in 2000, is proving to be as superb a sire as he was a performer in the Bundeschampionships for many years.

Worcester’s dam is LIMONE by Lemon xx.  Limone received a 7.05 on her Mare Performance Test and her first foal in 1994 was Ritano by Ravallo, who was licensed as a stallion in Verden in 1996. Ritano became infected during his Performance Test in 1997, was gelded, and sold for 120,000 DM as a dressage horse.   Limone is by Lemon xx, who is a thoroughbred who stood at the Celle Stud until the age of 26.  Lemon sired horses for dressage, show jumping and several world-class event horses, including the Sydney Olympics horse Little MacMuffin, and Literat who was German National Champion of young event horses.  Lemon xx also sired Lemon Park and Lemon Tree, who was the Champion of the 1987 Stallion Licensing and winner in his Stallion Performance Test the next year.

Limone’s dam Taiga has produced the SPS mare Sydney by Salvano and SPA Dorina by Donnerschall with a Performance Test of 7.94, who was imported to the USA.  SPS Dorina (shown as Dakotah) has won multiple Freestyle Championships in the USA.  Taiga produced two other Lemon xx foals, Laretta and Lemon’s Premium, who both won suitability classes for dressage at the age of four.
